Newmarket Precast Concrete
Newmarket Precast Concrete Investigation
Uxbridge, Ontario
March 21, 2015
The drive north seemed to go a lot quicker than anticipated, but the feeling of the unknown still lingered. We had investigated warehouse before, but not a factory. We had no idea what we were getting ourselves into, but we were prepared for whatever may come our way.
The town of Uxbridge is located in Northern Durham Region. First settled in by the Quakers around 1806, it was established as a municipality in 1850. It is still a quaint little town that has a lot to boast. Opening in 1960, Newmarket Precast Concrete has sold a diverse number of products to the area and those surrounding it. It also seems to have acquired a few residents that are no longer living.
We arrived at the location and knew right away that this would be no ordinary investigation. We were greeted by the owners of the business and immediately began discussing the activity that was being experienced. As we toured the building we were told how an employee had tools tossed at him by an unseen force. The sounds of people talking, footsteps and other weird feeling were also experienced throughout the building. We were also told how there had been reports of a male apparition in overalls, who had been seen walking a corridor between work areas. This was all very intriguing and we could not wait to set up equipment and get things underway. At this point Jim and Lisa arrived. Jim immediately began to sense things around the location.
It was now time to set up. Jay, Colin and Sean (our helper for the evening) began to set up the DVR system and place the cameras in the areas where the activity had been reported. The remaining members gather all and held and stationary equipment to begin testing and taking readings. As the cameras were being set up, Jim felt something that needed to be addressed. Rachel, Vanessa, Colin, Lisa and Jim headed over to a small room that was off to the side of the main area. Here Jim stated that he felt a gathering of spirits. One in particular was very insistent on “gathering” the other spirits to leave. Jim also mentioned how these spirits were unsure of us and the things we were holding in our hands. Jim also mentioned that this group of spirits would leave soon. Vanessa quickly set up her REM Pod and Mel Meter to see if she could gather any evidence. For a brief second, the REM Pod activated, but quickly stopped. This was a first for Vanessa, as she had never had the experience of the REM Pod going off in her presence. Vanessa and Colin continued asking whomever was with us at the moment to make the REM Pod activate again or to show a change on the Mel Meter. Nothing came about so we headed back to base. Soon everything was ready to go and the lights were turned off.

Soon everything was ready to go and the lights were turned off.
The entire location seemed to become a little but more eerie when incased in darkness. The wind outside howled and banged the steel roof. This also helped make the building a bit creepier. It also made us more aware of the noises that were going on around us and to debunk anything we thought might be out of the ordinary, but really wasn’t. Colin and Vanessa headed back to the spot where the REM Pod reacted to something earlier. Jim and Lisa wandered through the main area, while Rachel and Susan decided to spend some time in the room where reports of tools being thrown at an employee had occurred. Jay and Sean remained at base to monitor the DVR cameras.
Upon entering the room, Rachel and Susan checked the tool bench to see if anything was loose or hanging off. Nothing was out of the ordinary. It was a typical tool bench, messy and covered with an assortment of tools. “Anybody in here with us right now?” asked Rachel. “Can you tell us your name?” she continued. Nothing was heard. “Do you like the tools on the bench?” Rachel asked out loud. The Ovilus spoke – “Order”. The bench was definitely out of order with tools everywhere. “Do you prefer if it was tidy?” Susan asked. “You can play with the tools, we don’t mind,” added Rachel. Susan and Rachel continued asking questions, but no responses were heard or captured. Susan then notices an out of place shadow on one of her photos. She snaps a few more pictures and sees that this shadow appears to be moving. Susan goes to take another photo and the shadow is gone. Showing these photos to Rachel, they both try everything to recreate the shadow, but nothing they did could recreate the shadow. The Ovilus then spoke – “Fifteen”. Susan and Rachel still pondered over the photo and what it could possibly be. The Ovilus then spoke again – “Reason”. “Yes, we are trying to come up with reasons,” stated Rachel. Finally giving up on debunking the photos, Rachel and Susan continued on with their EVP session. After a series of questions, and no responses heard or captured, Rachel and Susan decided to try the PSB-7. “Hopefully it’s not dead like everything else was,” Rachel said as she went to turn the device on. When everyone had arrived, all of Rachel and Jay’s equipment would not turn on. Brand new batteries were completely drained. “Guess what? It’s dead,” stated Rachel.
Rachel and Susan return to the main area to change the batteries in the device. During this time, Jim mentions how he seen someone and heard knocking on the wood pallets that were located to our right. He also mentioned how he was drawn over to the one side, when someone tried to get his attention. Jim then said that he looked up towards the window he noticed the Canadian flag blowing in the wind and a man that appeared to be standing there. Now this window is most certainly not ground level. It would be impossible for anyone to be standing there, looking in. The only possible way was to use a cherry picker to get that high up. It was definitely strange for sure and was noted to spend some time in that area later on that evening.

Rachel and Susan returned to the area where the tool bench was located with fresh batteries and decided to do a PSB-7 session right away. “Anybody in here with us right now? If there is can you tell us your name?” Rachel asked. A female voice is heard coming through, but is indiscernible. More questions were asked but nothing came through. “Can you at least say something?” asked Rachel. Again, the same female voice is heard but is indiscernible. Once again more questions were asked but nothing came through. “Do you like scaring people who come in here?” questioned Rachel. This time, a male voice came through, but indiscernible. “Are you male?” she continued. No response. Rachel and Susan continued asking question but nothing was coming through. It was decided to stop the PSB-7 session. At this point, Colin and Vanessa joined them. Vanessa placed the REM Pod and Mel Meter on the ground in front of the tool bench. “Are you a previous owner?” Susan asked. “Are you settlers from the land?” Rachel added shortly after. It was then noted that the Mel Meter was indicating a change in temperature. Seeing this, Vanessa continued with questioning. “Is this your place of work? Does it upset you to have others here?” she asked. The Ovilus then spoke – “Bottle”. “We would really like to know you are here with us,” added Colin. “Can I go over and play with the tools on the bench? Will it make you mad?” he continued. “You upset others play with your tools and don’t put them back where they belong?” Vanessa asked. No responses. Since everyone was mostly together, Rachel mentioned how Jim had said that the spirits were a bit afraid of the stuff we have and are using to communicate. During this discussion the Ovilus spoke – “Many”. “Many spirits,” stated Susan. Again, Vanessa notices the Mel Meter indicated another temperature change and questions why it keeps indicating such a thing. Not being able to figure it out, we decide to head back to the main area. Re-grouping with Jay and Sean, both describe how they heard banging on the window. When questioned whether they had just heard the wind, both said that it was a noise that was very different from what they were hearing when the wind was blowing.
After a quick break, the team joined together to investigate the main area. “Anyone in here with us?” Vanessa asked as we walked through the open area. Colin then spoke up. “Anyone in here want to make a noise?” he asked. The Ovilus spoke – “Initial”. The team spread out and continued asking question. No responses were heard or recorded. “I feel a cool breeze,” stated Rachel. “But that could be anything,” she continued. The Ovilus once again spat out a word – “Soldiers”. Still trying to communicate, Colin begins asking a series of questions. “Who’s in here? Why are you afraid? Can you make a noise?” he asked. No response was heard or captured. Shortly after the Ovilus spoke – “Descend”. Walking around a bit more, Colin thinks he sees someone over where Vanessa and himself went earlier that evening. “Who’s in there?” he asked. “Who keeps walking back and forth over there?” continued Colin. But nothing.
Rachel and Susan decided that now was a good time to take their turn at monitoring the DVR system. As they sat at the station, the Ovilus spoke – “Still”. “Yes, we’re still here,” Rachel responded. After a good moment of silence, the Ovilus spoke – “Beach”. “Yes, I would love to be on a beach right now,” Rachel joked. Not long after the Ovilus said it’s last word of the evening – “Them”. Rachel questions this word. “Them out there or Them in here? Can you do something to ‘Them’?” she asked. No response was heard or recorded.
After investigating the main area Jay, Vanessa, Colin and Sean return to base. “Anything back there?” asked Rachel. “We heard a man’s voice, but that’s it,” responded Jay. With no other experiences or hits on our equipment, we decided that it was time to pack up and say goodbye.

Newmarket Precast Concrete was definitely not a typical place for us to investigate. It does have a very interesting past and present and, no doubt, a very interesting future! Though we did not have many experiences, we still believe the location is active. Even though some of the spirits finally were able to move on, some still remain. If you ever have to visit the location, keep in mind that you may think you are the only one in the room, but there may just be someone, unseen, standing behind you. Who knows, you may just have a paranormal experience.
